CAUTIONS AND GENERAL INFORMATION Safety is our rst priority at Sharrow Lifting Products. We want to stress that the responsibility of proper and safe usage of any of our products relies on the user. Each user of every product purchased or rented from Sharrow Lifting Products must have knowledge in the proper methods of rigging and lifting under all situations. CAUTIONS TO PERSONNEL • All portions of the body shall be kept from between the sling and the load, and from between the sling and the crane or hoist hook. • Personnel should never stand in line with, or next to a sling that is under tension. • Personnel shall not stand or pass under a suspended load. • Personnel shall not exceed rated capacity of slings or ttings. • Rated capacity shall be reduced when lifting at angles. • Slings or ttings that appear to be damaged shall not be used. OPERATING PRACTICES • Slings shall not be shortened by knots, twisting, bolts, or other makeshift devices. • Slings shall be hitched in a manner providing control of the load. • Slings shall be padded or protected from the edges of their loads. • Loads should not be rested on the sling. • Shock loading should be avoided. • Slings should not be dragged on the oor or over an abrasive surface. • In a choker hitch, the choke point shall only be the sling body, never on a tting. • In a choker hitch, an angle of choke less than 120 degrees should not be used without reducing the rated capacity. • Slings should not be constricted, bunched, or pinched by the load, hook, or any tting. • Loads applied to hooks must be centered in the base/bowl of the hook to prevent point loading. • A visual inspection for damage shall be performed by the user each day or shift the sling is used. • Damaged slings shall not be used.
